Canada Dry Ginger Ale Email Print

Happy Bird Day Canada. The partisan loons have taken over and  painted Ottawa blue. Susan Delacourt of the Toronto Star writes:
Though the red and white of Canada's flag is usually the dominant colour scheme for the big party in Ottawa on July 1, blue seems to be all the rage this year - a good, solid Conservative blue, to match the government in power.
Workers have been erecting the main stage for festivities this week on Parliament Hill. By yesterday, it was evident the favoured hue seems to have definitely shifted from red - which also happens to be the colour of the Liberal party, the Conservatives' arch-rivals.

I called my Dad the other day on the occasion of his 79th birthday. I consider myself very fortunate to have my Dad. For most of my teen years I was scared to death that my father might, as his father did, die young. Dad's favourite drink is rye and for special occasions he says you can't beat Crown Royal. Here's to you Dad!

Kosher Wine Email Print

We're opening a bit early this week to observe the religious holidays later.

Today's drink courtesy of the only Kosher winery in Canada, Rodrigues Winery. When google returned Rodrigues I naturally assumed I'd found a Sephardic Portuguese brother trying to scratch a living off the Rock now that the cod are gone. I was, like GWB, fooled by "the goog-lee". Dr. Rodrigues is a brother all right, from Tanzania. He's a dentist and former mayor of the town of Whitbourne, Newfoundland who has, with his wife Marie-France, operated the winery since 1993.

It is a marvelous piece of corporate efficiency, don't you think? Mr. J. Mesinger is here to make this a tax deductible flight. We have to do a little "bidness" before pleasure. You understand, of course, nobody uses their own money anymore. And it is better for the economy. Not now. I'll explain later. In the meantime, take it away, Jay.
